1.
Venice 03:41
yes, it was strange that it lasted I felt so numb in the past days watching the walls come down just like paper planes don't touch me like nothing happened we dressed up, left what we had there but were so small in the picture watching the roof come down like the messiah on and on and on
2.
Don't 04:04
take what you want to take yes, take everything you need in some time, you’ll see it will be fine and keep what I couldn’t keep love that’s beyond need you’ll see, for a while it will be fine don’t throw it all away don’t throw it all away all the little parts that form a distant past all the little rhymes that form a distant time
3.
Low 03:49
as you knock on the door with your head like before as you lie on the floor like a lover, like before kiss the concrete hear its melody you know this is safe here but when you say things when you talk it’s like shaking broken clocks hear the silence feel its remedy you know this is severe when there are always eyes around you can you feel it crawling up your back and when all these lights shine on you I can see that sparkle in your eye kiss the concrete hear its melody you know this is safe here
4.
Take On 04:22
right since this morning I’m out of luck and everything you said weighs on I stumble all alone silently along like an old and endless song take a bite of what I just found right since this morning I’m tired and lost, everything is done I stumble all alone silently along like an old and endless song take on take on enemies as if you know who they are take on take ´em on and on we run along take on enemies as if you know who they are take on take ´em on and on we lost them all
5.
something’s broken I can’t remember why words unspoken pile up to the sky this is an invitation blown the right way but it’s missing the name something’s broken look what we got ourselves into what we wanted and everything that we’ve been through oh, this silent sensation I can’t help myself it is always the same
6.
Silesia 03:14
row me slowly row me up to the moon you’ll never guess who I saw up there in those silent nights smiling I’ve been thinking for so long about these eyes all these other ones that tried to row across I’ve been here before I walked through this door
7.
Maria 05:04
unseen, you got away you wore a different mask each day finally, you shake it off you stop to take it as a contract mind your step in the shadow all the traps we have thought out so carefully unseen, you got away you wore a different mask each day finally, you shake it off you stop to take it as a contract mind your step in the shadow all the traps, that we set up so carefully
8.
this is how it started everything that you wanted in every bed we’ll hide someone you won’t get what you came here for and you know this is how it goes yes, in every bed you will find someone can you hear the knock on your front door you know this this is what you called place your hand on my heart don’t you wonder just how boring our fears have become still we keep on hanging on
9.
Styrofoam 03:10
this feels like being snapped on the run unable to stop, unable to go on I’m trapped inside a photograph continuously examined, I can’t get my hands up it’s a part that I play in your love just like a bad actor while all the others laugh sometimes I’m made of styrofoam that someone painted on while you scratch on and on till all the colors are gone
10.
Come; fear you not: good counsellors lack no clients: though you change your place, you need not change your trade; I'll be your tapster still. Courage! there will be pity taken on you: you that have worn your eyes almost out in the service, you will be considered.
11.
my tired eyes are longing for the curtain to fall upon the things that all went wrong well, it all comes back when you least expect it I recall walking over bridges every night, I never thought they’d fall it is such a shame and you can’t explain it you should be careful what you wish for

about

It is tempting to tag Daniel Freitag's music as Art-Pop, but it is also misleading. Starting on a poppy note, Songs like „Low“ and "Take On" already give a hint of what's to come with chromatic brass-hooks and unexpected guitar lines. Grown up on classics like the Beach Boys, Bowie and Leonard Cohen, Freitag's deep admiration for the craft of songwriting is evident in every note. The carefully crafted songs are enhanced by a multicoloured mix, but always stay true to their emotional core. He sings of the things we can't escape from, love, fear und notably ourselves. These themes and ultimately the "letting go" became a central to his album "Still".
Daniel Freitag recorded „Still“ on his own devices and released an his label Akkerbouw. Most of the songs were recorded live with musicians from the Berlin jazz scene. The result is a dynamic and energetic ride past the depths of worn out Indie-Pop and an emancipated debut.
